Today in Family History - 10 Feb

A busy but all-around happy day in family history.

My 3rd great-grandmother Stijntje van Zanten (Thompson line) was born on this day in 1831 in Uithuizen, Groningen, The Netherlands [1].

My 3rd great-grandparents Benjamin Franklin Baldwin, Sr. and Magdellen Moseley Guerrant were married on this day in 1859 [2]. Franklin and Maggie were likely married in Limestone County as they were living on the Limestone-Leon county line one year later in the 1860 census. A marriage license has not been found. Since the Leon and Walker County marriage records are seemingly complete and the Limestone records only date to the 1870's because of a courthouse fire in 1873, it can be presumed they were married in Limestone County and the license was destroyed in the fire.

My 7th great-grandparents Jacob Kievit and Maddeleentje Wafelbakker (Thompson line) were married on this day in 1735 in The Netherlands [3].

Today in Family History - 09 Feb

My 3rd great-grandmother Aafae Kuiper (Thompson line) was born on this day in 1837 in The Netherlands [1]. (Note that computing her birth date from the date of death and age on her death certificate gives 12 Feb 1837. Since math is required to compute the age for the death certificate, I have taken the date from her grave marker as the correct date.)
